Join Calvary family member Pastor Carrie Bishop in a new book study starting May 6 and continuing on Wednesdays in May and June from 1:00-2:00 pm.
The book we will study is Inspired: Slaying Giants, Walking on Water, and Loving the Bible Again ByRachel Held Evans.
“If the Bible isn’t a science book or an instruction manual, then what is it? What do people mean when they say the Bible is inspired?”
We will explore challenging scripture and come to a more meaningful understanding of God’s Inspired Word.
Within these pages, Evans wrestles through the process of doubting, imagining, and debating Scripture’s mysteries. This will change the way you approach Scripture.

Message from Calvary Executive Committee (March 30)
Calvary’s Congregation Council met Monday, March 30, via Zoom. Here are some highlights from that meeting:
Council reviewed and discussed the stay at home expectations as defined by NC Synod Bishop Smith, local, and state orders. The Council voted in support of the NC Synod expectations that congregations will not gather for worship service through May 12. The local ordinances have given permission for 10 or less people to travel to church for the purpose of streaming on-line services.
Bishop Smith also sent a letter to all rostered leaders asking that they do not preside at communion during on-line services. Council recognizes our members’ desire to gather for communion, especially during the Lent/ Easter season. Pastor Debbie reminds us that this is an opportunity for us to reflect upon the gift of communion and its importance in our lives.
The Council recognized and thanked the Technology Committee for their service facilitating our Zoom meetings and planning for streaming of our services. We appreciate their work in purchasing and securing the necessary equipment to allow on-line streaming by Easter Sunday.
Also, the Council voted in support of an on-line giving campaign. Details will be forthcoming in the next few days.
