How are you growing in your life of discipleship? Do you have a plan to reach your vision of what God is calling you to be about?
Over the last six months, Pastor Debbie and Deacon Mike Holt have been trained in coaching through the ELCA with a focus on walking with disciples to set and live into their goals for themselves.
We invite you to reach out to us with your questions about coaching and to let us know if you want to give coaching a try. We are here as a resource for you in the journey of faith. Everyone has a different path of discipleship. We can all benefit from someone to come along side of us and help us name our target and set goals to get there.
Do you find yourself wanting to make a difference? Do you wish that you felt a deeper sense of purpose in your life? The great writer and theologian C.S. Lewis calls this the human being’s “seemingly incurable, innate, core hunger and thirst for spiritual meaning.” It points to the fact that we are made in the image of God and need God to fulfill our deepest longings and thirsts in life.
Throughout the fall, two small groups to intentionally develop discipleship will meet to explore the theme: “Yearning for God”. Janice Fredrickson and Carolyn Mauney will lead a group on Sunday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00pm in the parlor. Pastor Debbie and Janelle Correll will lead a group on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the parlor. The first Sunday small group will be on September 9th and the first Wednesday small group will be on the September 12th.
If you want to know more, please speak to Pastor Debbie, Janelle, Carolyn, or Janice. Also, if you plan to participate, Please sign up for the small group with Pastor Debbie by August 31st, so that a workbook may be ordered for you.

Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God’s presence within us. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This workshop is an opportunity to be introduced to or to renew your prayer practice – to be with God beyond concepts, words and images; listening with “the ear of the heart”.
All are welcome to attend!
Let Pastor Debbie know if you register. Several people from Calvary will be attending and car pooling.
