On February 26th (Ash Wednesday), Calvary will join other Christians around the world in the journey of Lent. This year, we will mark the steps of our journey using the theme: On the Way. This theme will bind us together as a church family during our Sunday morning services, one of our Sunday School classes, and our Wednesday evening Lenten services.
At Lent, we often think of the journey that Jesus takes toward Jerusalem for our salvation and the restoration of creation to God’s purpose. This Lent, we will expand that journey by considering encounters along the way (during Sunday worship) and the places along the way (during Sunday School and Wednesday evening worship).
The wilderness, Capernaum, the mountains, the sea, Samaria, and Jerusalem will be brought alive to help us understand these places in Jesus’ ministry, what Jesus does there, and what it means for us to be with Jesus there.
This Lent truly invites us to consider the depth of Jesus’ words in John 10: “I have come that you may have abundant life.” As we join Jesus “On the Way”, we grow faith in his presence on the way with us and for us every day of our lives.
Please let Pastor Debbie know by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like a copy of Adam Hamilton’s devotional, The Way: 40 days of Reflection. This book will enhance your experience of our Lenten Sunday School, The Way, and our Wednesday evening Lenten services.
Sunday School and our Wednesday evening Lenten services will include faith talks by Calvary members.
